From Sport as an Instrument in Rehabilitation to the Adoption of Competitive Sport: Genesis of a Delegatee Sports Federation in France for Those with Physical Disabilities (1954–1972)

Abstract: To date, very little research has examined the role of individuals in the emergence of disability sport in France. Some writers suggest that the Framework Act Favouring the Disabled (law n° 75-534 of 30 th June 1975) was the main impetus heralding the advent of the sports federation for those with physical disabilities 1 .
