Gold is a substance that can be used as a collagen forming catalyst, it can help regenerate the skin. Vit. E is a natural antioxidant compound that can be used to help regenerate and brighten the skin. Gold is a metal so it is difficult to apply into the skin. Gold and vit. E are formulated with SNEDDS (Self Nano Emulsifying Drugs Delivery System) technique, in order to reduce the size and dispersing of gold particles homogeneously. SNEDDS formula consists of olive oil, tween 80 (surfactant), propylene glycol (co-surfactant), vit. E and gold particles, which are optimized to obtain the optimum component using the D-Optimal method. Software will obtain 16 run formulas with difference composition of olive oil, tween 80, and propylene glycol. Transmittance value and pH as response. Loading dose capability was also carried out. Verification with statistical analysis using one sample t-test and then evaluated particle size, polydispersity index, and zeta potential. SNEDDS gold-Vit E optimum formula then dispersed into matrix hydrogel (Carbopol). The formula of Nanoemulgel gold was evaluated for physical properties and in vivo tests compared with brand gold cosmetic. The optimum composition of olive oil (9,09%), tween 80 (80,62%), and propylene glycol (10,29%) with loading dose of 2,6 mg gold and 250 µL of vitamin E. Characterization results showed the transmittance value is 97,22±0,06% and pH is 6,72±0,04 which shows no significant difference (p> 0,05) between the observation and software prediction. The results of SNEDDS evaluation showed a particle size of 150,2 nm, PI of-0,52 and potential zeta-24,9 mV. The results of stability test of nanoemulgel showed a semisolid, broken white colour, transparent, odorless, homogeneous. pH value of 6,78±0,06; viscosity of 346,67±15,27 dPas; and spread test of 5,48±0,035 cm. The results of the in vivo test showed that on the 6th day there was a significant skin regeneration when compared to brand product.

In Vivo Wound Healing Potential of Taro Leaf Extract (Colocasia esculenta L.) Emulgel on Diabetic Rat Models

Diabetic wounds are one of the complications of Diabetes Mellitus (DM), which are at risk of infection and can end in amputation. Colocasia leaves contain metabolites of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, steroids and saponins, which have antibacterial and antioxidant activity and can accelerate wound healing by helping cell regeneration. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of taro leaves extract emulgel worked for wound healing in diabetic rats. The test animals were 25 white male rats divided into five groups, namely positive control (applied with CutimedÂ® gel), negative control (applied with emulgel base), standard control (non-diabetic rats), Treatment-1 (applied emulgel once a day) and Treatment-2 (applied emulgel twice a day). Male white rats were injected with alloxan to make them diabetic and, additionally, given a grade 2 incision. Visual observations started from day 1 to day 16. The results of statistical analysis for measuring the diameter of the incision (Morton's method) and visual observation of the wound (method of scoring) obtained sig Î± <0.05, meaning that the treatment groups 1 and 2 were significantly different from the negative control. Treatment-2 produced nearly the same effect as the positive control. The conclusion was that 5% Taro Leaf extract emulgel applied twice daily was the most effective in healing cuts in diabetic rats for 13 days.

Insektisida alami yang diketahui mempunyai potensi besar untuk dikembangkan sebagai pengendali hama dan serangga salah satunya adalah dari famili Rutaceae. Buah kawista (Limonia acidissima) termasuk kedalam family Rutaceae yang mengandung 44 komponen minyak atsiri analisa GC-Olfactometri. Pengunaan bahan alami dari ekstrak buah kawista (Limonia acidissima) sebagai zat aktif reppelent diharapkan lebih aman jika dibandingkan dengan bahan kimia N,N-Diethylmeta-toluamide (DEET). Pada penelitian ini akan diuji efektivitas antinyamuk lotion ekstrak etanol 70% buah kawista (Limonia acidissima) terkait lama waktu dan kemampuan daya tolaknya terhadap nyamuk Aedes aegypti. Daya proteksi lotion ekstrak etanol 70% buah kawista (Limonia acidissima) dihasilkan berdasarkan rumus daya proteksi pestisida. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lotion ekstrak etanol 70% buah kawista memenuhi persyaratan uji organoleptis F1 berwarna putih susu dan F2 berwarna putih kecoklatan, kedua formula memiliki aroma khas buah kawista. Hasil uji homogenitas menunjukkan kedua formula homogen, hasil uji pH pada F1 dan F2 adalah 6,8 dan 5,5 dan uji viskositas F1 dan F2 masing-masing 20.800 cps dan 23.200 cps. Hasil uji efektivitas sediaan sebagai antinyamuk pada F2 dengan kosentrasi ekstrak etanol 70% buah kawista 3% memiliki daya proteksi sebesar 85%. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi konsentrasi ekstrak etanol 70% buah kawista yang digunakan semakin besar persentase daya proteksinya
