Food Quality Induces a Miscible Disease with Relevance to Alzheimer’s Disease and Neurological Diseases

Abstract: Food and nutrition guidelines for the handling and processing of fresh fruit, bread, and vegetables are essential and fresh produce may require cold preservation procedures to prevent minimal bacterial and fungi contamination of food. Bacterial lipopolysaccharides (LPS) corrupt lipoprotein and amyloid beta (Aβ) metabolism in diabetes, Alzheimer's disease (AD) and various neurological diseases. In the developing world the increased plasma LPS levels induce non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases and interfere with a… Show more

“…This “double whammy” creates an imbalance between calorie intake and expenditure that collectively leads to obesity. Though the severity of obesity and its relevance to AD differs between developing and developed countries (Martins, 2013 ), the quality of food and xenobiotics levels might underlie this discrepancy (Martins, 2016a ). A report on childhood obesity predicts that, by 2030, over 250 million young people will be classified as obese, from school-aged children to adolescents, thereby placing a massive burden on health care systems.…”

“…The amounts of nutraceuticals like curcumin from turmeric, lycopene from tomatoes, vitamins and minerals from various vegetables, glucose lowering ingredient from karela, capsaicin from the peppers etc added in preparation of GEGGZA are not in treatment portions. Curcumin and other Indian spices are potential candidates for treatment of a variety of conditions [18][19][20]. For use as treatment claim of different disease conditions, significantly large quantities (gram quantities than suggested for incorporation in GEGGZA) would be potentially required to be administered under medical supervision as an alternate treatment when nothing else works and due to the insolubility of curcumin in water (but soluble in olive oil or other oils) there could be toxicity as suggested in previous work.…”

“…Antibiotic resistance with relevance to antimicrobial drug use should be carefully controlled to prevent excessive release of LPS from the debris of gram negative bacteria [68]. Food preparation should be carefully assessed to prevent end products such as LPS and patulin that may persist in contaminated food [63,69]. LPS and patulin may inactivate Sirt 1 [62] with relevance to insulin resistance and NAFLD.…”

“…Essential measurements of plasma Sirt 1 and heat shock protein levels need to be determined to indicate core body temperature defects with relevance to inactivation of insulin therapy. Tissue analysis of anti-aging genes [18,33,54] need to be conducted to determine the role of insulin therapy with relevance to reversal of NAFLD [18,33,35,49,55,68,69] with connections to inflammation and metabolic diseases. Plasma assays of inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor alpha, interleukin-1 and interleukin-6 [10,11] need to be assayed with effective insulin therapy.…”
