“…Partial or complete mustache, beard/goatee, and sideburn loss can be satisfactorily restored/reconstructed with tattooing, excision closure, hair-bearing graft/flaps, or follicular unit transplantation (FUT). 3,[13][14][15][16][17][18][19] At present, the FUT technique enables transplantation of naturally appearing facial hairs because its small size provides great convenience to the surgeons in their placements with the desired hair density and better angled hair orientation. By using this technique, restoring/ reconstructing mustache, beard/goatee, and sideburns has become popular procedures because of their potentially exceptional results.…”

“…Clodius and Smahel 5 reported seven patients with denuded upper/lower lip, chin and temple areas following hemangioma resection and they treated these areas with full thickness scalp skin grafts taken a week following epilation and satisfactory results could be achieved by this technique in 1979. Many years later, Şahinoğlu and Sönmez Ergün 1 reported a suspected eunuchoid patient who had been transplanted with 1200 single and double FU containing grafts to perioral and mandibular areas by using FUT technique with a satisfactory result in 2002. Levesque et al 6 described a case having a successful hair transplantation of 200 micro‐ and minigrafts in two sessions for beard restoration after free flap reconstruction for head and neck cancer defect involving the mandible and chin.…”

“…Micro-and minigrafts for hair restoration have become the standard of care in the treatment of male pattern baldness (1)(2)(3). They have also been described for reconstruction of hair-bearing areas outside of the scalp including eyebrow, eyelash, mustache and beard reconstruction, as well as reconstruction of the pubic escutcheon (4,5). Micro-and minigrafts have been successfully used in areas of scarring and in nonhair-bearing skin.…”
