Fog computing in health management processing systems

Abstract: Purpose Fog computing (FC) is a new field of research and has emerged as a complement to the cloud, which can mitigate the problems inherent to the cloud computing (CC) and internet of things (IoT) model such as unreliable latency, bandwidth constraints, security and mobility. Because there is no comprehensive study on the FC in health management processing systems techniques, this paper aims at surveying and analyzing the existing techniques systematically as well as offering some suggestions for upcoming wor… Show more

“…Medical care has turned into a necessary sector of human lives, producing a dramatic enhancement in big medical data (Fu et al , 2020). Application-explicit necessities, just as network and correspondence capacity of gadgets, have presented new difficulties for health-care IoT (Holeman and Kane, 2020; Srivastava et al , 2020).…”

“…End devices, including access points, could be used to host services in the Fog computing environment, as demonstrated in Figure 1. This innovative multi-layered distributed computing environment enables apps to run as near as possible to the detected, relevant, and enormous data flowing from persons, processes, and things, while maintaining high performance [15,16]. Data, computing, storing, and application facilities are available at the edge for both Cloud and Fog technologies [17,18].…”

“…Recently, the IoT sensor and device number have been enhanced significantly, but, despite efforts to boost IoT applications by taking advantage of CC power, there are still unsolved problems such as high latency due to inherent CC problems 4–6 . Fog computing (FC) is a new platform that is presented by Cisco that runs the cloud model at the edge of the network 7,8 . Both models offer similar services in terms of data storage and computing, but the fog has an advantage over the cloud because of its proximity to users, high geographic coverage, and support for mobility 9 .…”
