“…TYLCKaV was detected in tomato and tobacco; however, the infection rate was highest in eggplant indicating that it is the primary host for TYLCKaV. This result is consistent with other studies that have reported that most TYLCKaV have been isolated from eggplants in Southeast Asia (Green et al, 2003;Ha et al, 2008;Tang et al, 2014;Bagewadi and Naidu, 2016;Zhang et al, 2018). Interestingly, PepYLCIV, PepYLCAV, and AYVV were undetected in eggplant, indicating that the primary hosts for these viruses are chili pepper, tomato, and tobacco.…”

“…In Africa, no begomovirus was reported on eggplant (Brown et al, 2015). Only the two begomoviruses Tomato leaf curl New Dehli virus and Tomato yellow leaf curl Kanchanaburi virus initially reported on tomato crops were also ultimately found on eggplant in Asia (Pratap et al, 2011;Zhang et al, 2018;Lukman et al, 2019). In Africa, some begomoviruses were already reported on some Solanaceae such as pepper and tomato whereas neither on eggplant (Tiendrebeogo et al, 2011;Séka et al, 2017).…”

“…Our previous eld survey of begomoviruses infecting solanaceous and cucurbit crops cultivated in Aceh Province in Indonesia inferred that TYLCKaV is the predominant begomovirus that infects eggplant (Kesumawati et al 2020). Given that TYLCKaV has been isolated from solanaceous crops, including eggplant in Vietnam (Ha et al 2008), Laos (Tang et al 2014), Cambodia (Bagewadi and Naidu 2016), Indonesia (Koeda et al 2016), China (Zhang et al 2018), and Myanmar (Kwak et al 2022), this virus is indicated to pose a severe constraint to eggplant production in these areas.…”
