“…When analysing the collected data, we found a noticeable amount of gesture-related emojis when after-sale staff apologized to customers. The reason for this might be that gesture-related emojis can display communicators’ closeness and involvement (Sampietro, 2019), ease tense relationships between users (Hanai and Oguchi, 2008), or express a stance or clarify a message (Bich-Carrière, 2019). In the collected data, we found four different gesture-related emojis when after-sale staff apologized to customers: the shake emoji, sorry emoji, touch emoji and kiss emoji.…”
