Feasibility study of cassava meal in broiler diets by partial replacing energy source (corn) in regard to gross response and carcass traits

Abstract: Day-old unsexed broiler chicks (Cobb 500) were used to investigate the growth responses and meat yield traits by nourishing them under four dietary treatment group in inclusion of cassava meal with partial substitution of valuable energy source (maize or corn). A total of 260 birds were assigned randomly into four dietary treatments [T1 (0%); T2 (10%); T3 (20%), and T4 (30%)]; each replicated 5 times, 13 birds/replicate in a completely randomized design. Birds were reared with ad libitum feeding, similar housi… Show more

“…The key advantage of the poultry industry is that broiler rearing is not as capital intensive, and the birds can be efficiently produced within a short period compared to other animals [21]. The general public, regardless of rank or religion, prefers poultry, which has led to a dramatic rise in poultry imports into the nation and a steady growth in the demand for broiler meat [22]. For instance, during the 10 years between 2009 and 2019, South Africa's broiler meat consumption increased by around 25%, while broiler imports increased by The general public, regardless of rank or religion, prefers poultry, which has led to a dramatic rise in poultry imports into the nation and a steady growth in the demand for broiler meat [22].…”

“…Broiler meat can rapidly and efficiently fulfil the shortage of protein requirements as it can be produced within a short time compared to that of other animals (Mbuza et al, 2017). The demand for broiler meat has been rising daily as most people, irrespective of caste and religion, prefer chicken (Hossain et al, 2011). Therefore, the number of poultry farmers on a commercial basis is being increased in Bangladesh (Kamruzzaman et al, 2021).…”

“…Besides, broiler meat can rapidly and efficiently fulfil the shortage of protein requirements as it can be produced within a short time compared to that of other animals ( Mbuza et al., 2017 ). The demand for broiler meat has been rising daily as most people, irrespective of caste and religion, prefer chicken ( Hossain et al., 2011 ). The percentage of broiler consumption in Bangladesh accounted for 40% of the total meat consumed in 2018, and per capita broiler meat consumption is 6.3 kg per year, which is expected to reach around 7 kg in 2020 ( WPSA-BB, 2018 ).…”
