-The aim of this work was to identify and to investigate the determining factors of water table quality in the Irrigated Perimeter of Baixo Acaraú, Ceará, Brazil, using factor analysis/principal component analysis (FA/PCA). It was sampled nine shallow wells spread out on two different types of land: uncultivated area (A1) and irrigated area (A2 , HCO 3 -and CO 3 -2 . The PCA resulted in a model composed of three components that explained 93.06% and 83.72% of the total variance of the data set from A1 and A2, respectively. It was found that the determining factors of water quality were the mineralization processes and anthropogenic activities in both areas. The anthropogenic activities in the irrigated area were related to nitrogenous fertilizers, while those in the uncultivated area were associated with the presence of septic tanks (from the lack of sewage treatment). , NO 3 -, SO 4 -2 , HCO 3 -e CO 3 -2 . O emprego da AF/ACP resultou em um modelo composto por três componentes explicando 93,06 e 83,72%, da variância total, respectivamente, para as áreas A1 e A2. Os fatores que influenciam na qualidade das águas subterrâneas, em ambas as áreas, foram definidos pelo processo natural de intemperismo geológico do solo e da ação antrópica. Nas áreas de cultura irrigada, a ação antrópica foi determinada por um fator relacionado aos nutrientes nitrogenados e correções de acidez dos solos. Nas áreas não cultivadas, a ação antrópica foi definida por um fator de saneamento básico (uso de fossas sépticas com lançamentos diretos ao solo). O manejo adotado nas áreas irrigadas do Distrito de Irrigação do Baixo Acaraú está contribuindo para um aumento gradual nas concentrações de nitrato em águas do lençol freático. -This study was carried out in the Serrote reservoir, sited in the Groaíras watershed at the northeastern region of Ceará State, Brazil. The aim was to investigate the temporal and spatial variability of water quality. Data investigation was processed using multivariate analysis/cluster analysis and GIS techniques. Samples were taken in four stations spreading out over the water body during five campaigns of collection (February, May, August/2007 and May, August/2008). The water quality parameters analyzed were: Electric Conductivity (EC), pH, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), temperature, chlorophyll 'a' concentration and Total Phosphorus (TP). Two homogeneous groups were identified, which expressed the inter-annual seasonality influence in the water quality. The highest concentration of investigated attributes occurred in 2008. At that year, the depth of the annual rainfall was 53% above the annual average. Chlorophyll 'a' and total phosphorus defined the dissimilarity between the two groups. Group 1 was composed with the better water quality and concentrations of attributes were close to the recommended limit defined by resolution 357/05 of CONAMA. Whereas Group 2 presented average concentrations of chlorophyll 'a' and total phosphorus two times greater than the ones registered in Group 1, there for been above the limit established by CONAMA (357/05) for human consumption. The reservoir presents characteristics that point toward eutrophization due to the use and management of the soil around said reservoir.Key words -Water quality. Cluster Analysis. Eutrophization.Resumo -Este estudo foi conduzido no açude Serrote (barragem Edson Queiroz), localizado na bacia do rio Groaíras, no norte do estado do Ceará, objetivando-se investigar a variabilidade espaço-temporal da qualidade da água. Foram coletadas amostras de água em quatro pontos do corpo hídrico, durante os meses de fevereiro, maio e agosto de 2007 e maio e agosto de 2008, totalizando cinco campanhas. Os parâmetros considerados neste estudo foram Condutividade Elétrica da água (CE), potencial hidrogeniônico (pH), oxigênio dissolvido (OD), temperatura (T), fósforo total (P) e clorofila 'a'. As investigações dos dados foram realizadas pelo emprego de análise multivariada (análise de agrupamento) e técnicas de geoprocessamento. Dois grupos homogêneos foram formados independentes do ponto de amostragem, expressando assim, a maior influência da sazonalidade interanual. O estudo mostrou que as maiores concentrações dos elementos investigados foram registrados no ano de 2008, que apresentou totais pluviométricos superiores a média normal em 53%. A dissimilaridade entre os dois grupos foi definida pela clorofila 'a' e o fósforo total. O grupo 1 apresentou águas de melhor qualidade, com concentrações em torno dos limites estabelecidos pelo CONAMA (357/05). Artigo recebido em 21/02/2017 e aceito em 27/08/2017 R E S U M O Estudos realizados no Distrito Águas do Miranda, município de Bonito -MS apontam alto índice de infecção por protozoários e helmintos em crianças que frequentam a escola local evidenciando grande necessidade na avaliação da qualidade da água que é distribuída para a população. Portanto, este trabalho tem o objetivo de avaliar a qualidade da água do Distrito de Águas do Miranda, por parâmetros físico-químicos, microbiológicos e parasitológicos, bem como conhecer o perfil dos moradores do Distrito. O trabalho foi realizado no Distrito de Águas do Miranda, município de Bonito-MS, onde foram realizadas quatro coletas de água em nove pontos do Distrito. As análises físico-química, microbiológica e parasitológica seguiram métodos padrões. Para verificar a variância entre os meses e os parâmetros analisados utilizou-se o teste MANOVA e a Análise dos Componentes Principais (ACP). A partir dos resultados pode-se constatar que a população do Distrito de Águas do Miranda é jovem, a maioria são pescadores, tem acesso a luz elétrica e mora em residência própria. Em relação à qualidade da água, os resultados da análise parasitológica mostram que não há contaminação por protozoários e helmintos em nenhuma das amostras. Observa-se que todas as variáveis analisadas apresentaram correlação superior a 0,5. Esses dados somados ao fato de que o lixo é descartado a céu aberto levam a conclusão de que o saneamento básico local é deficitário. Therefore, this work had as its goal to evaluate the quality of the water from the village of Águas do Miranda, via physicochemical, microbiological and parasitological parameters, as well as to survey the profile of the people from the county. The work was developed at the village Águas do Miranda, county of Bonito-MS, where four samples were taken in nine different points of the village. The physicochemical analysis, microbiological and parasitological followed the same pattern. To verify the variance between the months and the analyzed parameters, the MANOVA test and the Analyses of the Main Components (ACP) were used. Based on these results we can assume that the population of the village Águas do Miranda is young, the majority are fishermen, have access to electricity and live in their own residence.
