Fatigue Reliability Analysis Method of Reactor Structure Considering Cumulative Effect of Irradiation

Abstract: The influence of irradiation should be considered in fatigue reliability analyses of reactor structures under irradiation conditions. In this study, the effects of irradiation hardening and irradiation embrittlement on fatigue performance parameters were quantified and a fatigue life prediction model was developed. Based on this model, which takes into account the cumulative effect of a neutron dose, the total fatigue damage was calculated according to Miner’s linear cumulative damage law, and the reliability … Show more

“…The power generation of PWR is fine-tuned by the control rods' insertion height into the reactor core, which is adjusted by the control rod drive mechanism (CRDM) [3]. That makes CRDMs crucial to ensuring the reliability and safety of nuclear power plants [4]. At the same time, due to the harsh working environment of CRDMs, their maintenance is complex and generally needs to shut down the reactor, which costs a lot.…”

“…The value of the residual stresses was determined using X-ray diffraction. Additionally, based on the literature fatigue models for the material used [17][18][19][20][21] and the models of cyclic hardening [21][22][23][24][25][26], the fatigue life of the blade was numerically estimated. The results of the numerical fatigue analysis were compared with the experimental results presented in the publication [27].…”
