Fabrication and properties of Sn(iv) porphyrin-linked porous organic polymer for environmental applications

Abstract: A robust Sn(iv) porphyrin-linked porous organic polymer was fabricated via gelation followed by supercritical CO2 drying for selective gas uptake capacity, removal of pollutant dye, and used a photocatalyst for the fabrication of silver nanoparticles.

“…These complexes are also known for their unique photo-physical properties. Therefore, structural studies of these compounds via various spectroscopic techniques are of significant value [36][37][38][39][40][41][42]. Within this context, the present study employs a one-step hydrothermal reaction between trans-dihydroxo(5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrinato)Sn(IV) (SnP) and TiO 2 (P-25, 85% anatase and 15% rutile) in basic conditions to fabricate Sn(IV) porphyrin-imbedded TiO 2 nanotubes (SnP-TNTs) (Scheme 1).…”

“…The Soret band (strong absorption) and Q bands (weak absorption) are associated with the π → π* electron transfer within unsaturated porphyrin moieties. However, these optical characteristics can be altered synthetically by changing the central metal atom and peripheral side group functionality [54][55][56][57][58]. In solution, their fixed geometrical skeletons and inherent aromatic electronic features lead to their self-aggregation.…”

“…Sn(IV)porphyrins form stable six-coordinate complexes with two oxyanionic ligands in axial positions owing to the robust oxophilic nature of the Sn(IV) center [51,52]. This favorable coordination of Sn(IV)porphyrins was utilized to fabricate functional porous materials, including a coordination framework [53], multiporphyrin array [54], organic polymer [55], and mesoporous platform [56]. These Sn(IV)porphyrin-containing porous materials exhibit excellent physicochemical stability and remarkable photocatalytic activity for the degradation of organic dyes in aqueous solutions.…”
