Extraction for fetal ECG using single channel blind source separation algorithm based on multi-algorithm fusion

Abstract: Nowadays, detecting fetal ECG using abdominal signal is a commonly used method, but fetal ECG signal will be affected by maternal ECG. Current FECG extraction algorithms are mainly aiming at multiple channels signal. They often assume there is only one fetus and did not consider multiple births. This paper proposed a single channel blind source separation (SCBSS) algorithm based on source number estimation using multi-algorithm fusion to process single abdominal signal. The method decomposed collected single c… Show more

“…It uses the bootstrap method, the Hough method, the Akaike information criterion method and principal component analysis (PCA) to estimate the independent component number. Then, the four numbers obtained are fused utilizing particle swarm optimization (PSO) to determine the accurate number [ 70 ].…”

“…The focus on this paper is to demonstrate the feasibility of source separation in ECG signals in order to detect R peaks, using a blind source separation algorithm called Non-negative Matrix Factorization (NMF). Some researches have been made combining electrocardiogram and NMF, such as ECG-EMG separation [5] or extraction of fetal ECG [6], but to the best of our knowledge, none on the separation of the ECG waves.…”

“…Based on the Blind Source Separation (BSS) technique, He et al proposed a method of mECG and fECG separation from a single channel abdominal signal. They also used the Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) method to decompose the collected single channel signal into multiple Intrinsic Mode Function (IMF) mapping single channels [18]. Ghazdali et al proposed an approach for denoising of the observed ECG signals using a Bilateral Total Variation (BTV) filter and then minimizing the Kullback-Leibler divergence [19] between copula densities to separate the fECG signal from the mECG [20].…”
