<p>The present study was an effort to investigate strategies mostly used in learning speaking, which covered direct strategies and indirect strategies. To this end, 60 students from two different high schools in a city in Indonesia, in which 30 students for each school participated this study. In collecting the data, this study used close-ended questionnaires with Strategy Inventory Language Learner (SILL) consisting of 39 items, which were analyzed by using a scoring system. The results of the study showed that students of both schools generally used the same and different learning strategies. The same learning strategies used by the students of both schools were organizing and evaluating learning, referring to metacognitive or indirect strategies. Meanwhile, the different learning strategies used by the students of both schools occurred on five strategies at a medium level. From the six types of learning strategies, as indicated in this study, the most popular learning strategies which were used by students of both schools were organizing and evaluating learning.<strong></strong></p>

The objective of this research is to analyze the translation of German "Funktionsverbgefüge" (verbal-nominal constructions) into bahasa and to find out the understanding of translating procedure, the equivalences and deviations in translating the forms. This research methodology is qualitative using content analysis technique. Data were sentences using the FVG. They were taken from a roman 'Herr der Diebe" by Cornelia Funke and its version in bahasa. There were 137 FVG found and analyzed. The result of this research shows that (1) there are expressions using FVG were translated with five translating procedure, (2) it was found that the translated phrases habe communicative equivalences with the source sentences, and (3) the translating deviations found were most becouse of the translators failure in finding the right words.

This research about the efficacy of think talk write strategy in improving writing skill for teenagers at Batu Walenrang Palopo. The purpose of this research is to find out whether or not the use of think talk write strategy is effective in improving writing skill for teenagers (16th-17th) at Batu Walenrang Palopo. This research applied the pre-experimental method, the research is carried out in one class, the population of this research is teenagers at Batu Walenrang Palopo. The sample of this research are nine teenagers (16th-17th) at Batu Walenrang Palopo. The sampling technique in this research is the total sampling technique. The instrument of this research is writing test. The researcher gives pretest and post-test to the teenagers. the data are analyzed using Spss 20. The result of this research shows that the use of think talk write strategy is effective in writing. It could be proved from the result of the calculation that students score in the post-test is higher than students score in the pre-test. The mean score in Post-test is higher than the mean score of the pre-test P=0.003>0.005. It means that is the use of think talk write strategy is effective in improving writing skill for teenagers (16th-17th) at Batu Walenrang Palopo. The implementation of this research as an alternative for educators in developing students' understanding in learning.
