Research into the career dynamics of high-performance level match officials across sports is scarce. The present study analyses the career dynamics of elite football referees from childhood to the elite level, creating a context of life design and a pattern for identifying individuals with potential talent. Twelve international and elite football referees participated in semi-structured in-depth interviews utilizing narrative inquiry. Participants were asked to recall all football refereeing-related experiences associated with their life stories from childhood to obtaining their FIFA Elite Referee (FER) position. Data analysis indicated that there were two common discourses (early and later) in an elite football referees' career which helped to shape their job role with increased meaningfulness, providing invaluable insights for reaching the FER position. The interviewees experienced specific on-and off-field, reactions during their career (early and late) in order to prepare themselves to face challenging and conflict-related situations in football refereeing. Based on career stages, types of job crafting, and job characteristic levels, we developed the unique career dynamic identification profile of elite football referees. Accordingly, we argue that a talented individual needs to undertake individual training and career-based goal setting in their early career, whilst later in their career the elite referees should move towards collective training and game-based goal setting. The paper discusses the wider implications of the research findings, including their transferability to other societal groups populations, such as public sportspeople, talented individuals, national football federations, referee departments, and concludes by considering suggestions for future research.

Objective(s):The present study aims at evaluating third degree football referees' Health behaviors at the Football Referee Training Centre in Baghdad City.Methodology: Quasi-experimental design, using one group test-retest approach, is carried throughout the present study for the period of October 25 th 2019 through March 10 th 2021.Non-probability, convenient sample of (40) third degree football referee while they are attending the Referees' Football Training Centre for the purpose of training. All subjects who have agreed to participate in the study have signed consent form for maintenance of their confidentiality and ethical considerations. Self-report questionnaire is constructed out of the program for the purpose of the study. Such instrument is comprised of two parts; part I: Socio-demographic Information which include age, education, body mass index (BMI) and socioeconomic status (SES) and part II: Third Degree Football Referees' Health Behaviors Scale that measures the third degree referees' health behaviors. It is comprised of (4) sections that include body care and general health, smoking, drinking and drug use, psychosocial well-being and abusive behaviors. Content validity of the questionnaire is determined through panel of experts and test-retest reliability for equivalence is obtained throughout a pilot study.Results: Results of the study depict that third degree football referees have experienced positive health behaviors with respect to studied aspects. Further, there is no significant relationship between their health behaviors and the socio-demographic characteristics of age, education, body mass index and socioeconomic status. Conclusion:The study concludes that the third degree football referees' health behaviors are improving as far as they are involved in the referees training center.

Bu araştırmada hakemlik mesleğinin sürdürülmesini etkileyecek, geçerli ve güvenilir, çok yönlü bir ölçeğin Türkçeye uyarlanması amaçlamıştır. Bu bağlamda Ridinger ve ark. (2017) tarafından geliştirilmiş olan "Referee Retention Scale (RRS), "Hakemlik Mesleğini Sürdürme Ölçeği (HMSÖ)"olarak Türkçeye uyarlanmıştır. Araştırmaya 2020-2021 yılında aktif hakemlik yapan 222 kişilik hakem grubu dahil edilmiştir. Bunların %50.5'i (n:112) basketbol, %12.6'sı (n:28) futbol, %24.8'i (n:55) hentbol ve %12.2'si (n:27) voleybol hakemidir. Örneklem grubunun %19.8'i (n:44) kadın, %80.2'sini erkek hakemler oluşturmaktadır. Verilerin çözümlenmesi SPSS 21 ve AMOS programları kullanılarak yapılmıştır. Çeviri-tekrar çeviri tekniği ile Türkçeye çevirisi yapılan ölçeğin yapı geçerliği için temel bileşenler analizi ve varimax döndürme teknikleri kullanılmıştır. HMSÖ'nün ölçüt geçerliği Pearson momentler çarpımı korelasyon katsayısı ile hesaplanmıştır. Bileşenlerin analizi sonucu, öz değerleri 1'den büyük yedi bileşenli bir yapı ortaya çıkmıştır. Ölçek bileşenleri için alfa iç tutarlık katsayılarının birinci faktör için .88, ikinci faktör için .79, üçüncü faktör için .70, dördüncü faktör için .80, beşinci faktör için .70, altıncı faktör için .78 ve yedinci faktör için .70 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Ölçeğin tümü için hesaplanan iç tutarlık katsayısı ise 83'dür. Ölçeğe uygulanan DFA analizi sonucunda x 2 /sd = 1.784, RMSEA = .06, CFI = .90, GFI = .85, RMR = .10 NFI = .81 ve IFI =90 olduğu görülmüştür.
