Experimental Study on Oxygen Supply Performance Influence Factors of Potassium Superoxide Oxygen Board Used in Confined Space

Abstract: Oxygen supply is the primary factor in ensuring human survival in confined spaces. Compared with high pressure oxygen bottles, potassium superoxide oxygen board has advantages such as small size, large oxygen storage per unit volume, absorbing carbon dioxide while providing oxygen. However, the release rate of chemical oxygen in a confined space relates to the concentration of carbon dioxide, temperature, humidity and other environmental parameters. To meet human survival needs within the refuge chamber, this … Show more

“…Zhang [28] et al, experimentally determined a ventilation rate of 0.1 m 3 /min per person in a 50-person refuge. Li [29] et al, studied the oxygen supply system using potassium superoxide as a raw material. But the refuge chamber only guarantees people can stay for 96 h safely [30].…”

“…There are several methods to manufacture of KO 2 compounds. The most widely used ones are the interaction of hydrogen peroxide with potassium hydroxide in an aqueous or aqueous-organic solution, and dehydration of the resulting solutions or suspensions to give a solid phase under drum drying, spray drying, and electrohydrodynamic (EHD) processes [1,[6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14]. The quality of the final product is strongly depending on the dehydration step of the selected wet synthesis method.…”

“…It is noteworthy that parameter identification was carried out on the basis of rather complex mathematical models, containing a system of equations in partial derivatives using numerical calculation methods, which required the creation of special software [6][7][8][9][10].…”
