Experimental investigation of vibrations and noise characterization for spark ignition engine

Abstract: An experimental study was carried out for measuring vibrations, noise and combustion characteristics associated correlations using a four-cylinder spark ignition engine. This study aims to investigate the effects of vibrations and noise on spark-polishing machines that are triggered by pure gasoline. This test runs at 15% engine load and 20% with engine speed 1000-2200 rpm at intervals of 300 rpm. The measurement of engine vibration in pistonic uses PCB Piezotronics ICP® Accelerometer (352C22). Overall tests t… Show more

“…The aim of this work was to determine the influence of the biofuel (fuel mixture) on engine vibrations. The vibrations have a direct influence on machine gradation [15,20,22,35] and ergonomics [6]. The research was carried out on a laboratory stand on a modern diesel engine powered with fuel, with a 10% addition of bio fuel and standard fuel as a reference point for discussion of the results.…”

“…When examining the influence of the fuel independent of engine speed, it may be observed that the relationship between the load and vibration is no longer so strong, and by means of maximum values, it departs from the unambiguity (Table 3. Items [14][15][16][17][18][19]. The analysis of the obtained results allowed us to identify the values of extreme vibration accelerations for the tested engine (Table 3, items 1 and 2), which is important in order to determine the range of the tested quantity.…”

“…Unbalanced rotational and reciprocating masses, inertia forces of various parts, mis re, and cyclic uctuations in gas pressure caused by the combustion process contribute to engine vibrations [15,17]. The critical parameters of engine vibration and noise include the mechanical structure of the engine, engine load, engine speed, engine oil qualities, and fuel properties [18][19][20][21]. Gravalos et al [22] studied the vibration behavior of a spark-ignition engine using three different fuels: unleaded gasoline, ethanol-gasoline blend, and methanol-gasoline blend.…”
