Experimental Investigation of Thermal Stability and Enthalpy of Eutectic Alkali Metal Solar Salt Dispersed with MgO Nanoparticles

Abstract: In this study, nanocomposites containing a pre-defined mass ratio of solar salt (NaNO3-KNO3: 6040 wt.%) dispersed with magnesium oxide (MgO) nanoparticles with nominal sizes of 100 nm were prepared in solid and liquid states. The proposed amounts of sodium nitrate and potassium nitrate were added to certain amounts of ultrapure deionized (DI) water comprising a 5 wt.% concentration of MgO nanoparticles. Afterward, the prepared mixture was placed in a dry oven to mix in a liquid state to obtain well-dispersed … Show more

“…In recent years, various materials have been integrated into polymers to form polymer-matrix composites (PMC) to achieve the desired mechanical properties and functionality of polymers in the AM process. Promising results have been achieved in new composite materials reinforced with small particles, fibers, or nanomaterials [17][18][19][20]. Polylactic acid (PLA) filament is one of the most commonly used polymer materials besides ABS [21,22].…”

“…Application of nanomaterials in various fields of engineering has become an interesting topic and remained challenging in some aspects during the last two decades [3][4][5][6][7]. Since 1995, when the term nanofluid was introduced by Choi [8] to describe a new class of heat transfer fluids, many studies have been conducted in this field to discover advantages and disadvantages in order to overcome the application barriers [9][10][11].…”

“…Salt is an essential material worldwide, used in many modern industrial applications (Khormali et al, 2016;Aslfattahi et al, 2019;Sofyan et al, 2019), as well as human consumption (Rochwulaningsih et al, 2019a;Rochwulaningsih et al, 2019b). Indonesia's demand for salt has continually grown at a tremendous rate over the last few decades (Juwono, 2020).…”
