Exercise promotes angiogenesis and improves β-adrenergic receptor signalling in the post-ischaemic failing rat heart

Abstract: Our data indicate that exercise favourably affects angiogenesis and improves LV remodelling and contractility reserve in a rat model of severe chronic HF.

“…us exercise training improves AR responsiveness in hypertension, but the underlying mechanisms have not been fully elucidated. A reduction in GRK2 and calcineurin with training in hypertension have been shown to be mechanistic component of the adaptive response [46,85,105,106] (Figure 2).…”

“…After myocardial infarction (MI), impaired angiogenesis induces cardiac remodeling characterized by cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis (5). Dysregulation of cardiac β-adrenergic signaling worsens cardiac remodeling and causes terminal heart failure (5).…”

“…Dysregulation of cardiac β-adrenergic signaling worsens cardiac remodeling and causes terminal heart failure (5). Although left ventricular assist devices or heart transplantation after myocardial infarction (MI) are available for treating patients with terminal heart failure, these therapeutic strategies are limited to a small number of patients and are accompanied with serious complications.…”

“…It is still unknown whether these factors might influence tumor progression, apoptosis, and metastasis. Exercise can also promote angiogenesis and knowing that the blood vessel walls contain a variety of stem cells (perivascular endothelial and mural cells) [134][135][136] and some of these stem cells have recently been show to have an inhibitory effect on cancer cells through unknown mechanisms, the beneficial effect of exercise on cancer development and prevention is maybe related to these blood vessel derived cells.…”
