Evaluation of the Transverse Strength of the Heat Cure PMMA Resin Reinforced with Various Concentrations of Two Different Nanoparticles: An In vitro Study

Abstract: Purpose: The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effect of titanium dioxide and zirconia nanoparticles on transverse strength of heat cure PMMA resin routinely used for complete denture fabrication. Methods: One hundred samples of PMMA resin were made and divided into five groups (20 samples for each group). The test specimens were divided into five groups depending on the concentration of reinforcing nanoparticles as Group 1,2,3,4 and 5; Group 1: PMMA unreinforced (control group), Group 2: PMMA rei… Show more

“…These findings are in disagreement with Kusha Thakur, Archana Nagpal and Gupta R. which found that increasing in flexure strength coincide with increase concentration of Tio2 Nps till 2.5% then decrease flexure strength . (15) But our results in agreement with Hamouda et al (16) and Nazirkar et al in were discovered the influence of affixing TiO2NP into heat cure acrylic resin notified an reverse influence on flexural strength of the definitive output. (17) This minimizing was due to a raise in redundant TiO2 nanoparticles may raise the danger of dissimilar mixing among polymers output in additional monomers does not interact to polymer so that the residual monomer rises and minimize cross linking among the polymer chains.…”

“…Advantages of nylon materials include increased elasticity than standard heat-polymerized acrylic resins, biocompatible with patients who suffer from resin monomer allergy or metal allergies, and utilization of heat-molding rather than chemical polymerization to regulate the degree of shrinkage due to polymerization reaction and other related deformation that may occur. (6) Many efforts have been made to achieve more improvement in denture base material's characteristics. The inclusion of nanoparticles as a reinforcing agent has been discovered to improve the characteristics of acrylic resins, previous research reported that PMMA nanoparticles had great impact over the ordinary PMMA.…”
