Evaluation of the Relationship Between Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer and Ganglion Cell Complex Measured by Optical Coherence Tomography in Glaucomatous and Normal Cases

Abstract: ÖzetAmaç: Primer aç›k aç›l› glokomlu olgularda Optik Koherens Tomografi (OKT) ile ölçülen retina sinir lifi tabakas› ve gangliyon hücre kompleksinin kal›nl›klar›n›n normal olgular ile karfl›laflt›r›lmas›. Show more

“…15 Current OCT devices can obtain mGCC measurements automatically, and studies report that a decrease in mGCC thickness has high diagnostic value in early glaucoma, similar to RNFL parameters. 11,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23 Reported mGCC thickness values range between 76.6 and 119.8 µm in normal eyes and between 53.6 and 99.1 µm in perimetric glaucomatous eyes. 16 Because the range of mGCC thickness overlaps in normal and glaucomatous eyes, Kita et al 15 compared various macular parameters in Japanese patients and demonstrated that the ratio of mGCC thickness to total retinal thickness (G/T ratio) was the parameter with the highest diagnostic value in glaucoma.…”

“…The use of OCT has become increasingly common to measure RNFL thickness and optic nerve head parameters in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma. 7 Although split bundles appear to be a normal finding that does not indicate disease, they may affect GDx and OCT parameters and be mistaken for wedge defect. In contrast to split bundles, wedge defects are separated from adjacent tissue with sharper margins and occur with glaucomatous changes in the optic nerve.…”
