Evaluation of Rootstocks for ‘Tahiti’ Acid Lime in Northern State of Minas Gerais

Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate 12 rootstock varieties on the development and quality of ‘Tahiti’ acid lime fruits cultivated in the municipality of Jaíba, MG. Seedlings were planted in an experimental orchard in November 2008, using 8 x 5 meters spacing and drip irrigation. The experiment was conducted using a scion cultivar (Tahiti acid lime, IAC-5 cultivar) and the following 12 rootstocks: ‘Rangpur’ lime, ‘Troyer’ citrange, ‘Carrizo’ citrange, 1707 hybrid (Rangpur lime x Swingle trifoliate), 1710 and … Show more

“…According to the Brazilian Institute for Quality in Agriculture [HORTIBRASIL] (2000), the minimum value of juice yield for lemon is 40%, which means that C. limetta fruits meet this demand. Despite being different species, sour lime "Tahiti" on the work proposed by Machado et al (2017), presented 48% of juice yield, lower than those found in this paper. Chaves Neto, Silva, and Santos, (2018), obtained a juice yield of 69.45±1.03% for "Galego" lemon (C. aurantifolia).…”

“…This information is important, not only for estimating plant spacing, but also for use or cover of the area during the early years of the orchard. Machado et al (2017), evaluating rootstocks for the Tahiti acid lime, found that the Limeira trifoliate originated plants with lower canopy sizes compared to other rootstocks such as the Rangpur Lime, and that these plants with smaller canopy volumes could be used at higher planting densities, increasing production by area.…”

“…Já os híbridos LVK x LVA -009 e TSKFL x CTTR -013 e a tangerineira Sunki Tropical apresentaram os menores valores, não superando 185 frutos por planta (Tabela 2). Machado et al (2017) também observaram baixo número de frutos de lima ácida Tahiti sobre tangerineira Sunki.…”
