Abstract Brazil accounts for a large percentage of the world’s citrus production, with ‘Tahiti’ acid lime tree standing out among several cultivated species. However, its cultivation is supported by a very narrow genetic base, being composed of few scion and rootstock options. In this way, the aim of this study was to evaluate the vegetative development and production of twelve ‘Tahiti’ acid lime clones on two rootstocks. The experiment was carried out at Fazenda José Guarete, municipality of São Mateus – ES. A randomized block design was used in the split plot scheme, with plot consisting of two rootstocks and subplot of the twelve ‘Tahiti’ acid lime clones. Traits evaluated were: vegetative development, production and productive efficiency, internal and external quality of fruits. Bello Fruit, Iconha, BRS Passos, Itarana, Persian 58, CNPMF 5059 and Elédio clones were superior in terms of production, vegetative traits and fruit quality. ‘Swingle’ citrumelo rootstock showed higher values for vegetative traits compared to ‘Riverside’ citrandarin. The clone and rootstock combinations that provided better agronomic performance in this study were BRS Passos, Bello Fruit, Elédio and Iconha grafted on ‘Swingle’ citrumelo and CNPMF 5059, Iconha and Elédio grafted on ‘Riverside’ citrandarin.

Na citricultura, a diversificação da combinação de copas e porta-enxertos é uma necessidade para obter sucesso no pegamento do enxerto, diminuir o tempo de estabelecimento da planta no campo e melhorar o potencial produtivo. Dessa forma, esse trabalho tem como objetivo avaliar o desenvolvimento inicial de combinações de copas de laranjeiras doces ('Pera D6', Pera rio e Natal) com porta-enxertos de citrandarin (San Diego) e tangerineira (Sunki tropical). O experimento foi realizado em casa de vegetação pertencente a Fazenda Lima, localizada no município de Capitão Poço, Estado do Pará. Foi utilizado delineamento inteiramente casualizado, arranjados em esquema fatorial 2x3, sendo um porta-enxerto de citrandarin (San Diego) e um de tangerineira (Sunki tropical) e três copas de cultivares de laranjas doce ('Pera D6', Pera rio e Natal). A técnica utilizada foi a borbulhia por T-invertido. Após 12 dias da realização da enxertia foi removida a fita de enxerto e com 26 dias após a enxertia foram coletadas as variáveis altura do enxerto, diâmetro do caule dos enxertos e quantidade de folhas do enxerto. Os dados obtidos foram sujeitos ao teste de normalidade de Shapiro-Wilk e análise de variância, as médias foram comparadas pelo teste de Scott-Knott 5%, com o auxílio do software ASSISTAT. A combinação entre laranjeira ‘Pera D6’ e tangerineira Sunki tropical apresentou melhor desenvolvimento inicial.

Citrus represents one of the main fruit crops grown in the world, highlighting the ‘Tahiti’ acid lime tree. The objective was to compare rootstock varieties combined with this scion to identify those with the best agronomic performance and precocity of production, in addition to Phytophthora gummosis resistance. The experiment was carried out in Capitão Poço, northeast region of Pará, and the following seven rootstock genotypes were evaluated: ‘Sunki Tropical’, ‘BRS O S Passos’, ‘BRS Bravo’, ‘BRS Donadio’, ‘Citrandarin Indio’, ‘BRS Matta’, and ‘LVK x LCR-038’. A randomized block experimental design was used, with three replications and 10 plants per plot. The evaluated characteristics were: plant height (m); crown volume (m3); number of ripe fruit per plant; total yield of ripened fruit per plant (kg plant-1); cumulative fruit yield (fruit kg plant-1); and average productive efficiency (fruit kg m-3 of crown). The average productive efficiency was high. For early selection, the best rootstocks in terms of yield, stability and adaptability were Sunki Tropical, BRS O S Passos, and Cintradarin Indio. The fruit number had the greatest direct effect on fruit yield, and crown pruning was directly harmful. Further studies to understand the complex interaction of G x E for BRS Donadio and Sunki Tropical should be carried out.
