“…The antibacterial combinatory potential of CCEO in combination with 8-HQ in liquid and vapour phase was determined using a broth volatilization chequerboard method previously developed by our team (Netopilova et al 2018). The technique is based on the combination of classical microdilution chequerboard test and broth microdilution volatilization method (Houdkova et al 2017) allowing determination of combinatory effect of plant volatile agents simultaneously in liquid and vapour phases as well as comparison of MIC and calculation of FIC values in both liquid and solid media.…”

“…currently used in the food industry for food preservation, and these features make them known as one of the most promising EOs (Kachur & Suntres, 2019;Khan et al, 2017;Netopilova, Houdkova, Rondevaldova, Kmet, & Kokoska, 2018). Indeed, several studies have shown that carvacrol and thymol exert an effective antimicrobial effect against S. aureus (Engel, Heckler, Tondo, Daroit, & da Silva Malheiros, 2017;Gallucci et al, 2009;Guarda, Rubilar, Miltz, & Galotto, 2011;Lambert, Skandamis, Coote, & Nychas, 2001;Nostro et al, 2007;Rúa, del Valle, de Arriaga, Fernández-Álvarez, & García-Armesto, 2019).…”
