The investigation was carried out at Research Farm of the Tomato Improvement Scheme, Department of Horticulture, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri during the summer season of 2020. The data exhibited significant variations in 36 tomato genotypes for different qualitative and quantitative characters. The maximum plant height (124.59cm) was recorded in the genotype RHRT-15-21.The genotypes RHRT-15-4, RHRT-15- 17, RHRT-15-19, RHRT-15-20, RHRT-15-21, RHRT-17-1, RHRT-17-2 and RHRT-17-5 were observed indeterminate plant growth habit. The maximum number of branches plant-1 observed in RHRT-15-4. Genotype RHRT-15-7 and RHRT-15-4 were found early flowering which required 30 and 31 days for 50% flowering,respectively.Number of fruits plant-1 recorded highest in RHRT-15-4 and RHRT-15-23. The maximum polar diameter of the fruit was recorded by the genotype RHRT-15-3 (6.91cm) followed by RHRT17-9, RHRT-17-4 and RHRT-15-14. The maximum equatorial diameter shown by RHRT-17-9 (5.96cm) followed by RHRT-15-23 and RHRT-15-4, respectively. The fruit yield plant-1 of tomato evaluated varied significantly among the 36 genotypes, ranging from 0.68 to 1.93 kg plant-1. The general mean value of genotypes was 1.15 Kg. The minimum fruit yield plant-1 was recorded with genotype RHRT-17-10, while maximum with genotype RHRT-15-4. The genotype RHRT-15-4 gave the highest yield of 51.57 t ha-1. The highest TSS content of fruit was recorded with the genotype RHRT-15-24. The findings of this study may provide valuable information about phenotypic characteristics of tomato genotypes for crop improvement programme, vegetable experts and vegetable growers under summer season.

Garlic (Allium sativum L.) is an important edible bulbous crop with unique culinary and medicinal purposes. It is a major cash crop widely cultivated in Libokemkem and other districts of South Gondar zone of Amhara Region in Ethiopia. However, productivity of garlic in Ethiopia in general and in South Gondar Zone in particular is very low largely due to the use of unimproved local cultivars and traditional cultural practices. Five different improved cultivars of garlic were then evaluated for yield and yield components under rain-fed production practice. This acclimatization and performance evaluation at three different locations (Angot, Ginaza and Woreta) was laid in randomized complete block design with three replications. Cultivar Adiszemene local (55.44, 39.82 and 22.28 quintal per hectare (q/ha)) produced consistently high dry bulb yield at the three locations. Cultivar Chefe was found to be the lowest yielding at Angot (16.07 q/ha) and Ginaza (22.56 q/ha), whereas cultivars Kuriftu (11.92 q/ha) and Tsedey (10.06 q/ha) were the lowest yielding at Woreta indicating profound effect of environment on yield. Overall result revealed that statistically significant (P<0.05) high dry bulb yield (39.18 q/ha) was recorded in cultivar Adizemene local, followed by cultivar Holleta (31.32 q/ha). These cultivars with consistent high performance and wide adaptability would then be demonstrated and popularized for wide spread cultivation.

The experiment was conducted to study the 200 tomato genotypes for growth, yield and quality attributes. Among the 200 genotypes, the genotype Akshaya was exhibited least days taken to fifty percent flowering (21.00). In case of growth parameters maximum plant height noticed in genotype (13P3) 202.33 cm and maximum branches was observed in genotype (AR-56) i.e. 11.33 branches per plant. The highest fruit width and average fruit weight reported in (H-86) 8.15cm and (131.94 g). Yield attributing characters like number of fruits per plant (204.37) was highest recorded in EC-338717. The total tomato fruit yield highest was recorded per plant 6.48 kg genotype (4P1). With respect to quality parameters like Pericarp thickness highest was observed in (AOTD-10) i.e. 7.42 mm. The genotype AR-56 (7.00) was recorded highest total soluble solids. High range of fruit firmness was observed in (AOTD-18) 6.25 kg/cm2. This study gives information on the agronomic variation in the 200 tomato genotypes assessed which can invariably serve as an index to selecting putative parents in breeding for new tomato variety that will combine desirable agronomic characteristics with high yield and its attributing characters.
