Evaluation of effects of selenium nanoparticles on Bacillus subtilis

Abstract: The present study was performed to characterize of selenium nanoparticles (Nano-Se) which were synthesized by pulsed laser ablation in liquids to obtain the aqueous selenium citrate solution. The study was conducted using bacteriological and electronic-microscopic methods. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and spectroscopy analyses demonstrated that nano-selenium particles obtained by the method of selenium ablation had the size of 4–8 nm. UV-Visible Spectrum colloidal solution Nano-Se exhibited absorptio… Show more

“…At the concentration of 100 µg/mL (Se in the medium), more than95% ionic Se was reduced into Se 0 after 48 h. During the log phase of Bacillus subtilis BSN313, the reduction phase (Se 0 ) occurred. Same kind of observations were recorded in the same genus, reported in the previous literature [68,70,95]. However, the total reduction occurred, when the concentration of the selenium in the medium was increased to 200 µg/mL.…”

“…Such results are associated with easier absorption of bio nano-Se, in contrast to sodium selenite, in the quails' gastrointestinal tract and more intensive inclusion of the former in metabolism, in particular in the enzymes of antioxidant protection (glutathionedependent enzymes) and thyroid hormones. receiving bio nano-Se, show higher gains and body weight (Bityutskyy et al, 2019b;Tymoshok et al, 2019;Tsekhmistrenko et al, 2020a;2020b).…”

“…Due to the high demand for poultry products, it is necessary to apply the latest technologies for poultry farming, increase its productivity without reducing the quality of the final product, ensure intensive metabolism in farmed livestock, and increased stress resistance and resistance to adverse environmental factors (Bityutskyy et al, 2019a;Tsekhmistrenko et al, 2020a). That is why it is appropriate to use biologically active substances (Tsekhmistrenko et al, 2018) and probiotics (Tymoshok et al, 2019) in a balanced diet, which allow obtaining high-quality products from healthy livestock without the use of feed antibiotics (Tsekhmistrenko et al, 2020b).…”
