“…The Trichoderma strains tested had little effect on disease control or sclerotial infection despite their previous activity (Davet, 1986;Davet & Camporota, 1986), Part of the problem could be that the soil temperatures were still relatively low compared with the 28 C used for the original infection tests and the soil temperatures in the south of France, Further experiments have shown that these isolates have relatively poor capability of infecting sclerotia of this isolate of S. sclerotiorum at 18' C. whereas C, minitans was consistently one of the most active (Whipps & Budge, 1990), There is a need for careful choice of antagonists for use in specific environments.…”

“…Maintenance and inoeulum production of fungal antagonists Coniothyrium minitans (IMI 134523) was onginally isolated from a sclerotium of S. sclerotiorum (Turner & Tribe, 1976), Trichoderma harzianum Rifai (HH3) and an unidentified Trichoderma sp, (Bl) isolated from soil in France were provided by Dr P. Davet, INRA, Montpellicr, France, Both had shown laboratory and field activity against Sclerotinia sp. (Davet tl ai, 1983;Artigues & Davet, 1984;Davet, 198b;Davet & Camporota, 1986). All fungi were maintained on potato dextrose agar (PDA) (Oxoid) at 18°C, To prepare inoculum for glasshouse experiments, mixtures comprising 2 1 of flaked maize/ perlite (15% v/v) and 400 ml tap-water in autoclavable bags (Sterilin) were autoclaved twice for 15 min and then inoculated with 100 ml of a suspension of 10' spores ml~' in distilled water.…”

Relationship between the competitiveness with the soil microflora of Trichoderma clones, determined by the agar disc method, and their ability to destroy sclerotia of S. scleruriurum in non-sterile soil (after 21 days at 28°C) (Davet & Camporota, 1986;Davet, 1986 (Davet, 1986) Relationship between the competitiveness with the soil microflora of Trichoderma clones, determined by the agar disc method, and their ability to destroy sclerotia of C. rolfsii.…”
