Establishment in continuous culture of a T‐lymphoid cell line (HD‐Mar) from a patient with Hodgkin's lymphoma

Abstract: A new cell line, HD-Mar, was established from a pleural effusion of a patient with Hodgkin's lymphoma. Formation of E rosettes, sensitivity to anti-T serum, elevated terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase activity, presence of T-cell and the common ALL membrane antigens, morphology, and cytochemical staining indicate that the HD-Mar line is of thymic derivation. Absence of any immunoglobulin determinants, the lack of EBNA or any other EBV-associated antigen or function are also characteristics associated with e… Show more

“…Fluorescence polarization studies done in our laboratories have led to the notion that malignancy of lymphocytes, both in experimental animals and humans, is accompanied by a marked decrease in the degree of microviscosity of membrane lipids in leukemic cells as compared to normal lymphocytes (12)(13)(14)(15)(16). In accord with results obtained in model systems (9),…”

“…All cell lines were grown in RPMI 1640 supplemented with 10% fetal calf serum, 100 U/mI of pencillin and 50 lAg/ml of streptomycin. HDMAR is a T leukaemia cell line (Ben Bassat et al, 1980) and Daudi is a Burkitt lymphoma cell line (Klein et al, 1968).…”

“…The human T cell line HD-Mar, lkndly provided by Dr H. Ben-Bassat (Ben-Bassat et al, 1980), the human B cell lines 209 (a gift of Dr G.Lenoir, Lyon, France) and GM 4672 (Satoh et al, 1983) were grown in RPMI 1640 supplemented with 15% fetal calf serum (FCS). HeLa cells were grown in Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium containing 10% FCS.…”
