Establish pre-clinical diagnostic efficacy for parathyroid hormone as a point-of-surgery-testing-device (POST)

Abstract: Measuring the Parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels assists in the investigation and management of patients with parathyroid disorders. Rapid PTH monitoring is a valid tool for accurate assessment intraoperatively. Rapid Electro-Analytical Device (READ) is a point-of-care device that uses impedance change between target and capture probe to assess the PTH concentration in undiluted patient plasma samples. The aim of this work focuses on evaluating the analytical performance of READ platform to Roche analyzer as a p… Show more

“…The repeatability study provided an insight on the sensor's ability to accurately determine the levels on repeated basis, i.e., a reliable sensor must demonstrate similar response for the same concentration level when repeated multiple times. [ 37 ] In order to validate this, n = 4 measurements for each concentration of IP‐10 and TRAIL were measured. The sensors were dispensed with 50 and 150 pg mL −1 concentrations of the specific target and the corresponding response was measured.…”

“…The sensor chip comprises a nanotextured thin film (∼200 nm) of semiconducting zinc oxide deposited on bare gold electrodes. The fabrication process has been described in detail in the group’s previous study. , A PDMS chamber was created to enclose the chip boundaries and create a barrier between individual column arrays (channels) to achieve fluid confinement and target-specific binding. The bottom of the PDMS chamber was sealed with clear silicone glue to avoid any fluid leakage.…”

“…Therefore, surgeons should scrutinize whether IO-PTH would benefit the patient given its time and cost to perform. A reliable point-of-care device test could measure IO-PTH monitoring to reduce the durations of surgery and anesthesia ( 49 ).…”
