Enhancement of the thermal stability of PVC filled with multiwalled carbon nanotubes using new antimicrobic itaconimido aryl 1,3,4‐oxadiazoles

Abstract: A series of PVC films stabilized with novel antimicrobial itaconimido aryl 1,3,4-oxadiazoles (D1'-D4'), at absence or presence of various concentrations of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), was prepared by a conventional solution casting method. D1'-D4' was prepared via thermal cyclization processes by loss of water for their congruous predecessors itaconimido aryl hydrazides. Elemental analysis and various spectroscopy measurements were used to prove their structures. D1'-D4' have great antimicrobial act… Show more

“…Because of the effects of photostabilization and photo degradation [22], the following procedure might lead to energy transmission in polymers that is highly ineffective. The energy is transferred between molecules of a photo-stabilizer (acceptor) [23] and a stimulating polymer molecule (donor) [24]. Intra molecular [23] energy exchange happens between the molecules of a polymer (acceptor) and another chromophore (donor).…”

“…Furthermore, PVC under this formula shows very high inhibition efficiency against S. aureus and E. coli. Al-Harby et al [52] also investigated the synergistic effect between itaconimido aryl 1,3,4-oxadiazoles (D1 0 -D4 0 ) and MWCNTs on PVC's thermal stability and antibacterial properties. The inclusion of 0.1-0.5 wt% MWCNTs into PVC films, that were stabilized with D4 0 , enhanced the composites' thermal stability and mechanical properties of PVC.…”
