Enhanced catalytic performance by copper nanoparticle–graphene based composite

Abstract: A graphene based composite with copper nanoparticles (Cu-G) has been synthesized and used as catalyst for N-arylation and O-arylation. The structure and composition of the nanocomposite have been characterized by TEM, AFM, Raman and XPS. The catalytic activity of the Cu-G has been tested for the N-arylation of N-H heterocycles using arylboronic acids and the O-arylation of phenols using aryl halides. The catalytic N-arylation produces N-aryl heterocyles and the catalytic O-arylation produces diaryl ethers, unde… Show more

“…They found that the developed heterogeneous catalyst is easily recoverable and could be reused several times. 17 However, in all the cases, CuIJII) oxide was formed as an unavoidable mixture with Cu(0) nanoparticles. Moreover, both research groups used hydrazine hydride and NaBH 4 , which are toxic, as reducing agents.…”

“…The morphology 100 of the Cu NPs was characterized by FESEM. The Raman spectra demonstrate that two obvious bands at 1330 cm -1 and 1600 cm -1 are attributed to the carbon material 44 . 1C) show that the Cu NPs have an average diameter of 80-120 nm.…”

“…No article was earlier reported the use of CuO supported on graphene oxide as catalyst for oxidation of cyclohexane. Only few articles published over Cu nano particles supported on carbon based materials for coupling reactions . Generally, Cu metal particles are mostly appealing because of copper's nontoxic nature, low‐cost and high natural abundance …”
