Engineered Nanomaterials for Aviation Industry in COVID-19 Context: A Time-Sensitive Review

Abstract: Engineered nanomaterials (ENMs) are catalyzing the Industry 4.0 euphoria in a significant way. One prime beneficiary of ENMs is the transportation industry (automotive, aerospace, rail car), where nanostructured multi-materials have ushered the path toward high-strength, ultra-impact-resistant, lightweight, and functionally graded engineered surfaces/components creation. The present paper aims to extrapolate much-needed ENMs knowledge from literature and its usage in the aviation industry, highlighting ENMs co… Show more

“…XRD observed no impurities peaks and in proper plan concerning copper as (111), (200), and (220). The XRD pattern of synthesis particles' findings reinforces the general belief that there is no change in the shift in the crystal structure of Cu; the results of this method are in agreement with JCPDS card no 98−005−3247 [29]. The diameter of the copper particles was less than 20 µm, and they were spherical in shape.…”

“…In Figure 12 is also shown a comparative between representative 3D topographies of the surface for the samples C3M (non‐reinforced) and C3MR. It is worth mentioning that such improvements of rugosity accompanied by an adequate mechanical response are properties highly desired for materials to be harnessed in different sectors such as aeronautics and automotive industries 1,52,53 …”

“…Metal-based nanomaterials with different compositions, morphologies, sizes, and aggregation states, especially 2D materials, can be prepared by controlling components and processing methods, which exhibit various antibacterial activities. [50] Generally, metal-based particles are positively charged due to the dissolution of metal ions, and they are strongly attracted to the bacterial cell wall with opposite charges. [51] This causes physical environmental changes in which bacteria live.…”
