Energy storage performance of 2D MoS2and carbon nanotube heterojunctions in symmetric and asymmetric configuration

Abstract: Excellent cyclic stability and fast charge/discharge capacity demonstrated by supercapacitors foster research interest into new electrode materials with 100% cycle life and high specific capacitance. We report an improvement in the electrochemical performance of MoS2/multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) nanohybrid and intensively explored its performance in symmetric and asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) assembly. The symmetric assembly of MoS2/MWCNT exhibits capacitance of around 274.63 F g−1 at 2 A g−1 with hi… Show more

“…In particular, these morphological and surface analyses substantiate the formation of nanohybrid heterostructures that can facilitate rapid ion intercalation/deintercalation between the owers and furnish a large number of active sites for ion diffusion, leading to enhanced pseudocapacitive behaviour. 36 Furthermore, the interaction of the nanocarbons and MWS was investigated through HRTEM characterization (Fig. 3g-i and S2 †).…”

“…Overall, the HRTEM analysis validates the results obtained from XRD and FESEM, and the interaction and aggregation of the nanocarbons with MWS signies better electrochemical activity owing to their porous structure. 10,11,22,36 High-resolution XPS was employed to obtain a clear understanding of the binding energy and electronic state of the materials, as well as accurate atomic percentages. The survey spectrum provided in Fig.…”

“…Aer drop-casting 10 mL of active material, the working electrode was dried naturally for 30 min, and the electrochemical performance of the electrode was tested in 0.5 M H 2 SO 4 electrolyte. 18 The electrodes for the symmetric solid-state device were fabricated by mixing the electroactive material (PANI/BP), carbon black, and poly (vinylidene uoride) with an 80 : 10 : 10 mass ratio to create a slurry, which was then coated on a stainless-steel mesh. As a single electrode, a 1 cm 2 patch of SS mesh substrate was employed, and the mass loading of each electrode was kept at roughly 3 mg cm À2 .…”
