Abstract:The increasing number of cores in future chip multiprocessors places a heightened emphasis on the energy-efficiency of the on-chip communications infrastructure. Traditional packet-switched electronic network-on-chip (NoC) has low energy-efficiency in transmitting long-distance packets. By providing high-bandwidth, low-latency chip-wide communication, optical interconnects can be a promising candidate for future NoC architectures. However, laser source and optical-electronic modems in optical network-on-chip (… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
