Endometrial Stromal Nodule: Report of a Case

Abstract: Endometrial stromal nodule (ESN) is the least common of the endometrial stromal tumors. They are rare neoplasms which are diagnosed in most instances by light microscopy. Although such nodules are benign, hysterectomy has been considered the treatment of choice to determine the margins of the tumor required for diagnosis and to differentiate it from invasive stromal sarcoma Whose prognosis is totally different. We report a case of a 45 years old woman, with presurgical diagnosis of adnexal mass or uterine tumo… Show more

“…If present, infiltration generally appears as 1‐3mm sized protrusions . Several reports have described the pathological features of endometrial stromal nodules . However, the characteristic magnetic resonance (MR) imaging appearance of this rare tumor type has not been established; therefore, it is difficult to make a preoperative diagnosis.…”

“…The behavior of the ESTSCLE is that of the corresponding stromal neoplasm, either endometrial stromal nodule or endometrial stromal sarcoma. Although the behavior of UTROSCT is benign, these tumors are generally considered tumors of low malignant potential with a small risk of local recurrence or metastasis [9,[14][15][16]. The treatment of choice is hysterectomy with bilateral salpingooophorectomy.…”

“…As in this case, the biopsy may be negative when the tumor is not associated with the endometrium. The Introduction Endometrial stromal tumors (ESTs) are very rare mesenchyme tumors, and the endometrial stromal nodule (ESN) is the least common [1]. 2014 WHO classificaity showing starburst morphology was observed in the focal areas (Figure 6).…”
