Elemental Characterization of Medicinal Plants and Soils from Hazarganji Chiltan National Park and Nearby Unprotected Areas of Balochistan, Pakistan

Abstract: INTRODUCTION Among the protected areas, national parks and nature reserves cover about 12 of the earth s surface, which acts as a backbone for biodiversity conservation. National parks provide a primary source of safe ecosystem services in addition to their recreational role, essential for healthy well-being. These national parks, also, serve as a diversified habitat for many valuable medicinal plants. Many researchers focused on the study of important medicinal plants present in National parks of Pakistan and… Show more

“…Based on the estimated PMTDI for Mn (140 μ g kg−1 bw day−1), which corresponds to 980 μ g kg−1 bw week−1 and 68600 μ g or 68.6 mg week−1 for an adult weighing 70 kg are considered to be suitable for human adults, as shown in Table 3 . The results are lower than those previously reported in the literature [ 23 , 24 ] and agree with the results documented by other researchers in medicinal plants [ 25 ].…”

“…The average concentration of Na present in plants is reasonably high, making this plant medicinally important. However, the obtained results showed that Na was low enough, indicating a satisfactory concentration of this element, as reported in other medicinal plants [ 15 , 23 , 38 , 39 ].…”

“…Nowadays, a number of questions about evidence-based phytotherapy are under discussion [1][2][3][4]. The main way to give scientific explanation to the pharmacological effects of natural pharmaceuticals is through the standardization of plant raw material and the recognition of the role of certain biologically active substances or their groups for pharmacological action.…”

“…The dry matter content of plants reveals the actual quantities of various nutrients available for animal consumption (Seal et al, 2020). Investigating other wild edible medicinal plants of Balochistan, higher percentages of dry matter was reported by other researchers (Anjum et al, 2019). The ash content represents the total quantity of mineral present in a sample.…”
