Electrooxidation and determination of perphenazine on a graphene oxide nanosheet-modified electrode

Abstract: The electrochemical behavior of perphenazine was investigated on a graphene oxide nanosheet-modified glassy carbon electrode in a phosphate buffer solution at pH 7.4. Cyclic voltammetry was employed to study the drug electrooxidation process. Perphenazine was electrooxidized on the modified electrode surface at lower potentials with a higher rate through an irreversible process. The kinetic parameters of the electrooxidation reaction, including the standard rate constant as well as diffusion and charge transfe… Show more

“…Perphenazine is an antipsychotic drug, a phenothiazine derivative, used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorders [ 9 , 10 ]. It acts on all the levels of the central nervous system, particularly the hypothalamus [ 11 , 12 ]. Research has suggested that phenothiazines, including perphenazine, possess anticancer activity.…”

“…Changes in chemical signals due to interactions, the presence of an analyte in very small amounts converting to electrical signals are detectable by electrochemical methods [ 34 - 37 ]. High reproducibility and high stability in electrochemical methods, along with minimal consumption costs, have led to extensive use and integration of electrochemical science with biology and medicine in detection of analytes [ 14 , 35 - 39 ]. Accuracy and high sensitivity of analyte detection using electrochemical methods have led to faster diagnosis and treatment of various diseases and an increase in the life quality of humans [ 14 , 30 - 33 ].…”

“…18 Graphene oxide (GO), a lowdimensional carbon material which is extensively used for the biosensing of various compounds, 19,20 was applied for the modication of a glassy carbon electrode and PPZ content was determined in the millimolar range. 21 A carbon ionic liquid electrode (CILE) was introduced in 2006 for the rst time as a new and high performance carbon composite electrode. 22 The main idea for the fabrication of this new electrode was the replacement of the conventional nonconductive organic binders in carbon paste electrodes (CPEs) with a pyridinium-based ionic liquid.…”
