Einflussfaktoren des Naherholungsverhaltens im periurbanen Raum | Factors influencing nearby outdoor recreation behaviour in periurban regions

Abstract: A growing number of people live in agglomerations, and the need for nearby outdoor spaces that provide the population with opportunities for recovery and to sustain health is increasing. However, urban sprawl dissects and consumes near-natural outdoor spaces in periurban regions. In order to manage and design the remaining nearby outdoor recreation areas to support public health, it is necessary to understand which factors influence nearby outdoor recreation in periurban forest and open country. “…In general, there is a difference between the predominantly anthropocentric responses (e.g., human health, relaxation) of participants in van den Born and colleagues' study and the rather biocentric responses of the interviewees in this study (e.g., intrinsic value, memory of the origin of life). This holds true for many studies that show health and recreation as emerging reasons to visit the forest (Braun, 1998;Degenhardt et al, 2010;Hansmann et al, 2007;Mann & Schraml, 2006;Nilsson, 2011;Schmithü sen & Wild-Eck, 2000). Spiritual reasons are rarely reported.…”
