Effects of training versus short exercise session on homocysteine levels in women with different body mass

Abstract: Purpose. Homocysteine is a non-protein amino acid and elevated blood levels are often caused by inappropriate lifestyles, leading to atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases. the aim of this study was to determine the levels of homocysteine after a 9-month training program. “…Weight loss interventions have been shown to have beneficial effects on oestradiol, free oestradiol, SHbG, and free testosterone concentrations [6,42] in brC survivors. Accumulative evidence shows that greater amounts of physical activity with > 250 minutes per week are associated with clinically significant weight loss and weight maintenance after weight loss [5,43]. A combined aerobic and resistance exercises program has been demonstrated to be more effective to induce favourable outcomes on body composition by improving fat-free mass and loss of fat mass [5,7], supporting current recommendations for lifestyle interventions for weight loss.…”

“…The findings revealed that three months of aerobic training reduced homocysteine in middle aged men. Murawska-Cialowicz and Zuwala-Jagiello (11) reported that nine months of aerobic exercise reduced homocysteine in middle-aged women. Habibian that a continuous exercise session with an intensity of 60% to 65% of maximal oxygen consumption increased homocysteine and heat shock protein 72 in inactive women.…”
