Effects of Probiotics Supplementation on Growth Performance and Certain Haemato-biochemical Parameters in Broiler Chickens

Abstract: The study was carried out to know the effects of probiotics (Protexin® Boost) supplementation on growth performances and haemato-biochemical parameters of "Shaver Star Bro" broiler chickens during the period from September to October 2003. A total of 20, day-old broiler chickens were randomly assigned into four equal groups (n = 5) as A, B, C and D. Group A was considered as control fed with commercial ration while group B, C and D were fed with commercial ration with the addition of 1 g, 2 g and 3 g probioti… Show more

“…With the advancement of age, the body weight of treated animals was not increased significantly. This result is primarily similar to the works of previous researchers (Choi et al, 2004;Islam et al,. 2002), who observed that feeding with hydrogenated soybean oil (SHSO) containing about 21% conjugated linoleic acid did not significantly affect growth performance of rats Valerie et al (2002) reported that a diet high in saturated fat compared with one high in unsaturated fat was reported to either increase or decrease or have no effect on body weight.…”

“…Probiotics are live microorganisms which administered in adequate amounts confer a health benefit on the host .It includes live bacteria, yeast, microbial metabolites and pH adjusters, which contribute to maintain balance in intestinal microflora (Islam et al, 2004) leading to beneficial effects to the animal and antagonistic to harmful microbes. The mono or mixed probiotics substitutes for antibiotics in broiler industry have become an arena of great interest.…”

“…The probiotics include live bacteria, yeast, their metabolites and pH adjusters, which contribute to maintain balance in intestinal microflora (Islam at al., 2004). Probiotic microorganisms are responsible for the production of vitamin B complex and digestive enzymes for stimulation of intestinal immunity, increasing protection against toxins produced by pathogenic organisms.…”
