“…It was determined that diclofenac treatment increased ( P < 0.011) the concentration of plasma HDL, while it decreased ( P < 0.002) the concentration of LDL (Table 2). Similar results were reported following aspirin, naproxen, and ibuprophene treatments [2527]. Paradoxically, diclofenac caused decrement ( P < 0.006) in WBC, whereas it increased ( P < 0.019) RBC in this study (Table 3).…”

“…However, these effects apparently did not translate into increased HDL generation, as similar plasma HDL-C levels were noted in a small prospective study in aspirinand placebo-treated groups (Eritsland et al 1989). In one study, the administration of ibuprofen was found to slightly elevate HDL-C levels both in smokers and nonsmokers, whereas in another study treatment with naproxen failed to show any effect (Zapolska-Downar et al 2000;Young et al 1995). The influence of selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors such as celecoxib or rofecoxib on HDL-C plasma levels has not been reported to date.…”

“…On the other hand; the lipid levels determined in these studies were well above the upper ranges found in our study. Some drugs could potentially affect lipid and lipoprotein levels (20)(21)(22), and because of this many patients in our study who had been previously diagnosed and were using these drug types were excluded. In our study 15 (12.3 %) FMS patients interestingly their TC levels were well above 200 mg/dl.…”
