The study aimed to compare the differences in organic fractions transformation, humus components and bacterial community dynamics during manure composting from different sources, and to identify the key biotic and abiotic factors driving the humification process. Five types of manure [pig manure (PM), cow dung (CD), sheep manure (SM), chicken manure (CM), and duck manure (DM)] were used as raw materials for 30 days composting. The results showed the obvious difference of organic fractions decomposition with more cellulose degradation in CD and SM composting and more hemicellulose degradation in PM and CM composting. Composting of PM and CD contained significantly higher humus fractions than the other composts. Fluorescence spectra indicated that SM composting tended to form structurally stable humic acid fractions, while CM and DM tended to form structurally complex fulvic acid fractions. Pearson correlation analysis showed that humification process of composts in category A (PM, CD) with higher humification degree than category B (SM, CM, and DM) was positively correlated with lignin and hemicellulose degradation. Bioinformatics analysis found that Lysinibacillus promoted the degradation of hemicellulose and the conversion of fulvic to humic acid in the composts of category A, and in category B, Thermobifida, Lactobacillus, and Ureibacillus were key genera for humic acid formation. Network analysis indicated that bacterial interaction patterns had obvious differences in composting with different humus and humification levels.

The catfish cultivation business carried out by UPR Doa Mandeh since 2015 still requires support in the form of assistance and training for its development. Meanwhile, the availability of fish seeds in South Sumatra is still very dependent on other regions, such as Lampung, Jambi and West Java. The lack of use of appropriate catfish cultivation technology and the use of commercial feed has an impact on the low production of fish seeds produced. Apart from that, there has been no effort to treat waste water which has the potential to have a negative impact on the surrounding environment. For this reason, community service (PPM) is carried out, which applies lecture materials, research and publications that have been carried out by the proposing team in the form of application of biofloc technology, making liquid fertilizer and cultivating herbal plants. The aim and benefits of carrying out this activity are to develop the catfish cultivation business, increase seed production, utilize waste water from catfish rearing media into liquid fertilizer products that can be used to develop herbal plant cultivation which will ultimately increase the income of cultivators at UPR Doa Mandeh. The activity model is in the form of empowerment, development and assistance which is implemented using counseling, training and technical/production assistance methods. The results of this activity are high survival and growth rates for catfish, water quality is in the optimal range, and the richness of nutrients in wastewater from the biofloc system can be used as liquid fertilizer for herbal plants. Kitchen waste is increasing globally, similarly in Pakistan bulk of municipal solid waste comprises of kitchen waste specifically, tea waste. Composting of kitchen waste is one of the promising ways to convert waste into useful product, resulting into zero waste. This study is aimed to convert waste (kitchen waste) in to a resource (compost) using bulking agents (tea waste and biochar) for reducing maturity time. Secondly, compost application on Solanum lycopersicum (tomato) was also tested. Four compost treatments were designed under aerobic composting conditions for 30 days. Tea waste and biochar have accelerated the maturity rate and produced a nutrient rich compost. Final compost had Electrical Conductivity of 2mS/cm, Carbon Nitrogen ration of 15, 54% of organic matter, 15% of moisture content, 48% of cellulose content, and 28% of Lignin content. With the use of Co-compost the Solanum lycopersicum showed 133% germination index, 100% germination, 235% Munoo-Liisa Vitality Index and 1238% seed vigor index. Co-compost also improved the soil total nitrogen by 1.4%, total phosphorous by 2%, total potassium by 2.1% and bulk density by 2.6 gcm−3. This study successfully used tea waste and biochar as bulking agents to reduce maturation time to 30 days. Tea waste and biochar enhanced the organic matter degradation, lignocellulose degradation, water holding capacity, porosity, seed’s vigor, germination index. This research can be helpful in developing home composting and home gardening to combat solid waste management and food security issue in developing countries.
