Effects of deltamethrin on some haematological parameters of Brown trout (Salmo trutta fario)

Abstract: This study was to assess the effects of deltamethrin on some haematological parameters of brown trout (Salmo trutta fario). During the 4 day, 10 brown trout were exposed to two different concentrations of Deltamethrin which they were 20% (0.91 μg·L-1) and 40% (1.88 μg·L-1) respectively, (LC50=4.7 μg·L-1). The results obtained from this study showed that the White Blood Cell (WBC), Hemoglobin content (Hb), Hematocrit percentage (PCV), Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV) and Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin (MCH) were decr… Show more

“…The LC 50 of triazophos for 96 h treatment period in different fish species are as follows: 0.008 mg/L for Peseudorasobora parva , 0.035 mg/L for Tilapia nilotica , 0.060 mg/L for Colossoma brachypomum [ 23 ] and1.05 mg/L for Cirrhinus mrigala [ 24 ]. The LC 50 value of deltamethrin for 96 h treatment period in different fish species have been reported as follows: 2.6 μg/L for Brycon amazonicus [ 25 ], 4.7 μg/L for Salmo trutta fario (Brown trout) [ 26 ] and 15.47 μg/L for O. niloticus [ 27 ].…”

“…Aeration was allowed during the trial. The quality parameters of water were measured as O 2 = 8.5 ppm, pH = 7.4, SO 4 -2 = 0.30 mg/L, PO 4 -3 = trace, NO 3 -= 3.15 mg/L, NO 2 -= trace and conductivity = 230 ls/cm (Karatas et al, 2015).…”

“…Lower haemoglobin level might decrease the ability of the fish to enhance its activity in order to meet occasional demands like seeking food and escape. Decrease in Hb has also been associated with the reduction of oxygen-carrying capacity in fish as reported by Karatas (2016). Decrease in erythrocyte counts could be due to haemo-dilution resulting from impaired osmoregulation across the gill epithelium.…”
