Determination of diazinon effects on some haematologicalparameters in rainbow trout, oncorhynchus mykiss

Abstract: The aim of this study was to determine the effects of diazinon on some haematology indices in rainbow trout. During the four day, 10 rainbow trout were exposed to two different concentration of diazinon, 40% (0.66mg/L) and 80% (1.32mg/L), respectively (LC50=1.65mg/L). The values of erythrocytes (RBC), packed cell volume (PCV) and hemoglobin (Hb) were significantly (P less than 0.05) decreased. Whereas, leukocytes (WBC) value increased significantly (P less than 0.05) and then decreased. The values of mean corp… Show more

“…These reductions may be related to decreased oxygen availability, inhibit energy production, suppress oxidative metabolism, as well as hypoxia due to lactic acid accumulation (Karatas et al, 2019a). Similar results were observed in common carp exposed to bifenthrin (Velisek et al, 2008), brown trout exposed to deltamethrin (Karatas et al, 2019a) and rainbow trout exposed to tetrachlorobiphenyl and diazinon (Vijayan et al, 1997;Banaee et al, 2011;Karatas et al, 2019b).…”

“…After the gill and liver tissues were removed, they were kept in 10% formalin for 48 h. Tissues taken from formalin were cut in 4 μm thickness and embedded in paraffin blocks. Then, sections were stained with Hematoxylin-Eosin (HE) and observed under microscope (Bar: 50µm) (Karatas et al, 2019b(Karatas et al, , 2021.…”

“…DMN was also reported to decrease WBC, Hb, PCV, MCV, and MCH levels, and increase RBC and MCHC levels of brown trout (Karatas, 2016). Karatas and Albayrak (2018) and Karatas (2018) reported decreased RBC, hemoglobin, and hematocrit levels of rainbow trout by exposure to diazinon and mancozeb. Moreover, this was observed by Svobodová, Lusková, Drastichová, and Žlábek (2001) and Svobodová, Luscová, Drastichová, Svoboda, and Žlábek (2003) with the impacts of diazinon and DMN pesticides leading to increased WBCs and dropped RBC, hemoglobin, and hematocrit levels in common carp.…”

“…All of the sections were stained with haematoxylin–eosin (HE) dye. Sections taken from the liver tissues showed as none, mild and moderate under a light microscope (Olympus DP72 (BX51); Bar: 50 µm; Karatas, 2019; Karatas, Yildirim, & Arslan, 2019).…”
