Effect of the Concentration of NaBH4 and N2H4 as Reductant Agent on the Synthesis of Copper Oxide Nanoparticles and its Potential Antimicrobial Applications

Abstract: The antibacterial activity of various nanoparticles is gaining increasing interest due to its potential medical applications. In this work, we presented the synthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles prepared by chemical reduction from aqueous solutions of copper sulfate (CuSO 4) with sodium borohydride (NaBH 4) and hydrazine hydrate (N 2 H 4) as reductant and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as stabilizer. The X-ray diffraction spectra showed the formation of tenorite (CuO) and cuprite (Cu 2 O) nanoparticles when diff… Show more

“…Sliver-containing materials can be used in vascular grafts, to reduce infection, as dental materials as well as to inhibit the bacterial colonization [16]. Gold nanoparticles are used for drug delivery purposes [17,18]. Metallic nanoparticles play a crucial role in inhibiting the growth of bacteria in solid and aqueous media due to their large surface-to-volume ratio.…”

“…More recently, many researchers studied the bio or green synthesis of AgNPs. 1,[12][13][14][15] In the present work, we introduced a simple, effective and environmentally friendly method for in situ preparation of AgNPs using bio-based silk fibroin (SF) as a reducing agent at room temperature under light exposure environment. The SF extracted from Bombyx mori silk, a protein polymer, which is naturally abundant, non-toxic and biocompatible material, is introduced for AgNPs synthesis.…”

“…More recently many researchers have demonstrated the bio or green route synthesis of silver nanoparticles. [12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20] As a result of the growing success and simple process for the nanoparticles formation, bio based methods in this field are swiftly gaining importance. Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles is mainly concerned with the selection of solvent medium, reducing agent, and nontoxic substances for stability.…”
