Effect of Tactivin on Functional Disturbances in Avoidance Reaction in Rats

Abstract: Experiments on outbred albino rats showed that tactivin (thymic polypeptide preparation) reduced functional disturbances in active avoidance reaction induced by extra electric current exposure violating the established relationships between the stimuli, reaction, and its result. The preparation provided high level of avoidance reaction after its violation. New effects of immunocorrective agent tactivin were detected. It not only restored the disordered immunological parameters, but also exhibited a pronounced … Show more

“…Animals of the treatment groups attained 80% performance by day 3, while control rats and animals receiving spleen polypeptides achieved this level only by day 5. Our data on the positive effects of thymic peptides are consistent with the resuts of previous studies demonstrating acceleration of AAR learning in a shutte box under the effect of tactivin [1,9,10].…”

“…The infl uence of CNS on activity of the immune system via the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and autonomic system are beyond doubts [11]. Less attention was paid to the effects of the immune system on the CNS that manifested in improvement of cognitive and mnestic processes [7][8][9]. The interaction of these systems is evident during stress.…”

“…Lately the bidirectional interaction of neuroendocrinal and immune systems has being studied dynamically, and the mechanisms give a possibility to optimize the therapy of some diseases both within the norm and upon aging. The mnemotropic and stress-protective action of the thymus polypeptides Tactivin drug was currently detected [3,5]. As it shown in further studies, the underlying mechanism of such drug effect is activation of serotoninergic and in a less degree, noradrenergic system [4].…”
