RESUMO -O presente estudo surgiu a partir da necessidade de se avaliar as taxas de crescimento do camarão-rosa Farfantepenaeus paulensis ao longo do ano, em cultivos realizados em uma fazenda localizada no Estado do Paraná, Brasil. Para isso, foi desenvolvido um índice de crescimento (ICr), que quantifica as taxas de crescimento dos camarões em relação ao ganho de peso por semana (GPS), medido em g/semana, e o ganho percentual de peso por semana (GPPS), medido em %/semana. O índice proposto pode ser descrito pela seguinte equação: ICr = ((GPPS) INCAO, 1984; D'INCAO e CALAZANS, 1978), que a redução das taxas de crescimento ao final dos cultivos foi maior do que a quantificada no ambiente natural, o que pode ser explicado por uma provável deficiência nutricional das rações utilizadas durante os cultivos. Palavras chave: camarão-rosa; Farfantepenaeus paulensis, taxas de crescimento, cultivo em viveiros.ABSTRACT -Evaluation of the growth rates of the shrimp Farfantepaeneus paulensis has been carried out along the year, in a shrimp farm located at the State of Paraná, Brazil. Quantification of the growth rates in relation to the absolute weight gain was performed as a growth index measured as g per week and as percentage per week, in the latter case in regard to the relative weight gain. This growth index allows the quantification of the shrimp growth independently of its or the culture age. Analysis of the growth index showed that F. paulensis displays a gradual delay in its growth rhythm along its development. Along the year, the cultivated shrimps showed the largest growth rates during November and December, falling by about half during the Winter, particularly during July, when the water temperature averaged 18ºC. The reduction of the shrimp growth rates observed at the end of the cultivation was larger than the ones quantified in the natural environment of Lagoa dos Patos (D'INCAO, 1984;D'INCAO and CALAZANS, 1978), a fact that can be explained by a probable nutritional deficiency of the feeds available for the shrimp culture.

The trial was conducted in earthen pond with average initial weight of 4.5 ± 0.4 mg/PLs of green tiger shrimp, to examine the effect of three stocking density and two water exchange rate on growth performances, production traits and feed composition. Eighteen earthen ponds (2200 m 2 ) were stocked with either, 5, 15 and 25 PLs/m 3 , and received either 10 or 20% of water exchange rate. The results revealed that, mean final weight (g/PLs), gain in weight (g/PLs), gain in weight %, SGR (% /day), feed conversion ratio, protein productive value (PPV), protein efficiency ratio (PER), fat gain and energy utilization were significantly (p≤0.01) the best at the lowest stocking density. While, total production exhibited significantly the opposite trend. There significant differences (P≤0.05) were found between water exchange rate in term of mean final weight (g/PLs), gain in weight (g/PLs), gain in weight %, SGR (%/day), feed conversion ratio, PPV, PER, fat gain and energy utilization.From the above results and the economic information of these study it can be concluded that, stocking density of 15 PLs/m 2 of green tiger shrimp and 20% water exchange rate exhibited the highest net profit and would seem to be the most desirable density and water exchange rate in the system studied.
