Effect of Qingyitang on activity of intracellular Ca2+-Mg2+-ATPase in rats with acute pancreatitis

Abstract: AIM:To study the change of intracellular calcium-magnesium ATPase (Ca 2+ -Mg 2+ -ATPase) activity in pancreas, liver and kidney tissues of rats with acute pancreatitis (AP), and to investigate the effects of Qingyitang (QYT) (Decoction for clearing the pancreas) and tetrandrine (Tet) and vitamin E (VitE) on the activity of Ca METHODS:One hundred and five Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into: normal control group, AP group, treatment group with QYT (1 ml/100 g) or Tet (0.4 ml/100 g) or VitE (100 mg/k… Show more

“…A protective effect of α-tocopherol on Ca-ATPase activity was reported in several animal models, like thermal ischaemia of rat kidney (Golod 1997), in hypercholesterolaemic rabbits (Kuzmina et al 1986), after catecholamine induced changes in cardiac sarcolemmal Ca 2+ transport (Tappia et al 2001), streptozotocin-induced diabetic rat kidney (Pekiner et al 2003), or acute inflammation of rat pancreas, liver and kidney tissues (Qiu et al 2004). …”

“…Da-Cheng-Qi Decoction (DCQD), a famous preparation of traditional Chinese medicine used in treatment of digestive diseases, is composed of Dahuang (Caulis Fibraureae), Houpu (Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis), Zhishi (immature bitter orange) and Mangxiao (Natrii Sulphas). It has been reported that DCQD can restore gastrointestinal function by facilitating motility, relieving enteroparalysis and evacuating "dry stool" [7] , prevent bacterial translocation and counteract with endotoxin, regulate Ca 2+ -Mg 2+ -ATPase in the pancreatic acinar cells [8] . SAP can be treated with Chinese herbal decoctions based on the above mechanism.…”
