Effect of N content on the microstructure and tribological properties of TiSiCN composite coatings

Abstract: TiSiCN composite coatings with different N contents based on Cr buffer layer were prepared by plasma-enhanced magnetron sputtering. The surface and cross-sectional morphology, composition, and structure of the coatings were evaluated by scanning electron microscope with energy dispersive spectroscopy, atomic force microscope, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, x-ray diffraction, and Raman spectroscopy. The hardness, elastic modulus, and tribological performance were investigated. The results showed that with th… Show more

“…Meanwhile, compared to other samples, S0 has a higher I D /I G ratio, indicating a smaller size of sp 2 ‐C cluster. With the increase of C content, the I D /I G ratio decreases and the G peak width narrows, indicating an increase in the sp 3 –C bonding ratio 12 . It is noted that the G peak of S0 has a large shift, and the other five samples is not obvious.…”

“…TiSiCN composite coatings with different C contents were prepared by plasma enhanced magnetron sputtering with the Ti‐Si‐C composite target (Ф50.8 mm, purity 99.99 at.%). The Ti‐Si‐C target was made of graphite embedded with three cylindrical Si and three cylindrical Ti, as shown in previous study 12 . Single‐sided polished (100) silicon wafers and 304 stainless steels were selected as the substrate materials.…”
