Effect of Foliar Application of Nano-Urea Under Different Nitrogen Levels on Growth and Nutrient Content of Pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum L.)

Abstract: A field experiment entitled “Effect of Foliar Application of Nano-Urea under Different Nitrogen Levels on Productivity and Quality of Pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum L.)” was conducted at Research Farm, Vivekananda Global University, Jaipur (India) during Kharif season of 2021. The experiment was laid out with 9 treatment combinations comprising in a factorial randomized block design with three replications. Results showed that highest plant height, dry matter accumulation, chlorophyll content, nitrogen conte… Show more

“…These results are in agreement with those of Manikandan and Subramaian (2016), Kandil and Marie (2017), Abdel-Aziz et al (2018 a and b), Burhan and Al-Hassan (2019), who found a substantial influence of nano fertilizer treatment on the aforementioned features. This could be due to the role of nano fertilizers in enhancing the solubility and dispersion or expansion of insoluble nutrients in the soil, as well as minimizing nutrient mineralization and soil stabilization, as well as its effect on increasing bioavailability as a result of enhanced soil biology effectiveness, leading to more efficient absorption of additives (Veronica et al, 2015).This assists in the maintenance of the plant's nutrient supply, which has a good influence on plant development (AL-Gym and Al-Asady 2020; Sharma et al, 2022 ).…”

“…The combined use of nanogypsum and Pseudomonas taiwanensis on maize improves the structure and function of the soil, which has a beneficial influence on plant health without generating toxicity ( Chaudhary et al, 2021c ). The foliar application of nano-urea to pearl millet plants improved plant growth metrics, dry matter accumulation, chlorophyll content, and NPK content ( Sharma S. K. et al, 2022 ). Carbon nanotubes have potent antibacterial properties as well as induced defense activation after application to tomato crops infested with Alternaria solani ( González-García et al, 2021 ).…”

“…Nanofertilizers have efficiency to reduce the nutrient loss via controlled release and thus may minimize the amount of fertilizer application in the field [ 145 ]. According to the available literature, nanofertilizers are benefiting several crop yields [ 146 , 147 , 148 , 149 ]. Gatahi et al (2015) studied the impacts of nanobiofertilizer in tomato crops affected by Ralstonia solanacearum -caused bacterial wilt disease and its pest-resistant function against wilt disease [ 150 ].…”
