“…As an adaptation to the freshwater environment, aeglids have direct development, without larval phases after hatching, and live approximately 2.5 years (Bond‐Buckup, Bueno & Keunecke, ; Cohen et al ., ). These animals are usually found hidden under stones, in well‐oxygenated water bodies, and the presence of coarse particulate organic matter and fragmented leaves also contributes to the occurrence of Aegla (Bücker et al ., ; Dalosto & Santos, ).
